Global Crops did not begin as a technology company. It began with an attempt to build a modern commercial farming business.
Growing a crop was
only the beginning.
The first major lesson was simple: being able to grow a vegetable and being able to make money from growing that vegetable are two different things.
That experience pushed the company beyond cultivation. We learned production, trading, collection, wholesale pricing, oversupply and the commercial realities on both sides of the farm gate.
Production evolved from traditional soil farming to commercial cocopeat fertigation and then into recirculating water culture. With each step, the questions became more scientific.
Over approximately four years of production, trading and biological research, Global Crops moved from operating farms toward a deployable agricultural technology platform. The production technology is now complete.
Production technology and market economics must be solved together.
That principle sits behind both sides of our vision: improve how crops are grown, then use production intelligence to improve how agricultural supply connects with demand.
